Adoptable Greyhounds

Here are some pictures of Greyhounds that are currently living at Greys'Land, awaiting adoption. Before you look at the photos, keep in mind that Greyhounds do not just come in a variety of colors: they come in a variety of personalities as well. It is the dog's personality, not its pretty face, that makes for a good or bad fit in your home. Please think about what kind of dog you are looking for. Whether it's very active and playful, very calm and docile, or somewhere in between, chances are there is a Greyhound that will fit your lifestyle.

Also, we do have a pretty high turnover, and there is no guarantee that any dog on this page is still available. So please don't get attached to any particular dog. These photos are meant just to give you an idea of what we have right now.

That said, please feel free to ask us about any of these dogs when you call or come in. We just want to make sure that you do meet the dog and get to know its personality before you make any decisions.

Cute little Amanda "worked" up to the end, racing the night before they shipped her here to Atlanta. She is a very sweet, friendly girl who constantly crowds in next to you and leans. She's definitely looking for someone to cuddle up to.

Andy is a big friendly well-behaved boy with easy-to-pet soft, soft fur who raced mostly out of Denver's Mile High track. Working to live up to his well-known sire, he was "in the money" about 50% of the time. But now it's time for him to find a soft bed, a squeaky toy, and a forever family to love.

Aptly named, this sleek black beauty, who prances around showing off her 4 white spats, was in a foster home for a short while, but a nasty aggressive little resident poodle was more than she could take. She's now looking for a friendlier place to live. She's a very confident lady who likes to bow and is very playful.

This petite pretty girl is very affectionate. She climbs right up into your lap and gives hugs. She's very hard to ignore. She's going to be one who wants to cuddle on the couch with you.

Joe is a big good-looking fellow with a star-studded pedigree. His daddy was the top U.S. sire in 2007 and 2008. His grandsire is a top racer. But Joe didn't much care to follow in their footsteps. He decided fairly early on that racing wasn't for him. He's on a different track – looking for a home where he can be a loyal and loving companion.

This handsome “blond” raced his last race on September 13th and is now looking forward to his retirement. He’s a sweet, well-behaved boy who would now welcome a forever home with a family to love.

This lovely blonde likes to follow you all around and stick close to your side. But sometimes her curiosity gets the best of her and she'll check out the countertops to see what's up there. After all, there was nothing that interesting back at the track! But she's destined to quickly learn the rules and become a greyt family member.

Deuce started off his career by winning his maiden race and then went on to successfully run many, many more. Now it's time for him to enjoy the life of a cared for family member. Although initially somewhat shy and reserved, with someone to love him he is sure to become a loyal and affectionate companion.

Seraph is a beautiful, extremely affectionate boy with eyes that will tug at your heartstrings. He spent 5 years in a home very much loved. And now he has had to be given up because of the loss of the home. He is so well trained and obedient. He sits on command. He's lived with 8 cats (who often slept on top of him), and he's wonderful with children. What a loving addition he would make to any family!

Recently featured on The Weather Channel, Scotty has now been with us for 8 months and we don't understand why he hasn't been adopted. He is just 2½, very handsome, personable and playful. Because of his young age, he gets a bit excited at meeting new people but quickly calms down in a few minutes. His twin brother was adopted months ago and is doing very well. True, we do not feel that Scotty is cat safe, but that shouldn't keep him from finding a forever home and becoming a very loving and lovable companion. C'mon out and meet him!

You can't miss spotting this little femme fatale! The left half of her face is black, but all the rest of her is white. And she's got quite the friendly personality. Born on New Year's Day 2007, she ran a decent number of races for her young age. But now she's given all that up for a chance at a real life in a real home.

Stocky was in a home for several months and then just recently had to be given up because of a change in the family situation. He is a happy handsome laid-back guy who is very friendly and well behaved. He's lived with children and gets along well with small dogs. We figure he'd probably be just fine with cats, too.

Runner is a big lively guy who is very friendly and likable. On the track he was "in the money" on more than 75% of his races – a good investment for his owner. But now he's just a bundle of handsome boy looking for a loving home.

Willy is a strikingly handsome boy who is big, strong, and muscular, but very friendly and well behaved. His dad is a top racer whose reputation Willy could never quite equal. But he makes up for it in good looks and personality. And that's gotta count for something in the Greyhound world!

This very lovable girl just craves attention. Wherever you are standing, she is right by your side or pushes herself between your legs. And if you sit, she puts her head in your lap. When she hears her name, she comes running. She is so well behaved it's hard to believe that she was still racing on the track two days before she arrived here in Atlanta. She is another of those kennel favorites who was given special attention and spoiled by her trainer.

Summer is a beautiful young girl who is all white ticked except for a little red around her ears. She just couldn't get the hang of chasing anything around a track so was retired while still a pup. She is shy and quiet but quite elegant. She loves to climb up on the bed and then pose there looking like a princess.

You can't miss lovely petite Shady. That exquisite red face with those mascara eyes will blow you away. And she is such a sweet girl, still puppyish, playful, and friendly. She'll follow you around, begging for attention.

Willy is another victim of today's economy. Adopted two years ago along with her friend Corey, she has now been returned to us because of financial problems: her owner lost his job and his home. Willy is a petite and pretty all-white gal with just a bit of brindle around her ears. She is quiet and loving and gets along well with other pets, including cats.

Because he is a friendly, well-behaved little guy, Corey deserves a second chance at a "forever" home. Corey has happily lived with cats.
